Brand Canvas workshop
great work deserves a clear message.
Most businesses struggle to explain simply what they do and why someone should choose them over a competitor. When the message isn’t clear, the right people walk straight past.
Behind that is a deeper concern. When a business cannot find the right words to explain what makes it different, it risks underselling its expertise and losing work to competitors who are not necessarily better, just clearer.
We believe no business should have to compete on price simply because its uniqueness and value are not clearly communicated.
clarity starts here.
It’s hard to feel confident promoting a business when the message isn’t landing. And exhausting explaining what makes it different every time, only to feel like people still don’t get it.
Through our structured brand strategy workshop, we work alongside business leaders to uncover what makes them unique and give them the language to communicate it with confidence. No more second-guessing.
Our approach is backed by case studies and five star reviews from empowered businesses. We work with service-based businesses every day, helping them find the clarity and confidence to stand out in their market.
creating clarity with the tinybox brand canvas.
A structured, research-led brand strategy workshop that takes a business from unclear to unmistakable. Here’s how it works.
1. research phase.
Before we meet, we spend time reviewing everything you’ve shared: your brief, any existing brand materials, and insights from your sector. This helps us come to the table with a clear understanding of where you’re at and where the opportunities might be.
This stage includes:
- Reviewing your brand questionnaire and existing assets
- Light desk research into your industry and competitors
- Noting early patterns or positioning gaps
- Aligning on your goals, challenges and expectations for the workshop
- Gathering inspiration from standout brands inside and outside your sector
2. internal analysis.
It’s important to reflect on where you have been and how you have arrived where you are today. This helps you take stock of all you have achieved and provides us with a solid foundation of information about your business.
This stage includes:
- Personal and company origins
- Your 1, 3 and 10-year goals
- S.W.O.T. analysis
- Brand touchpoint audit
- Why are you different, and why does it matter?
3. external analysis.
During this stage of the workshop, we will deep dive into understanding your audience and analysing your competition. Gaining a thorough understanding of those you serve and your position in the marketplace is essential for successfully going big with your story.
This stage includes:
- Audience demographic deep dive
- Buyer persona generation
- Competitor S.W.O.T. analysis x 3
- Which brands inspire you the most, and why?
4. brand foundation.
Once we’ve covered your current internal landscape, it’s time to begin crafting the new you. We will work together to create the boilerplate elements of your brand that everything else will flow out of.
This stage includes:
- “When people think of my brand, I want them to feel…”
- Formulating your mission, vision and values statements
- Formulating your unique value proposition
- Exploring which brand voice is right for you
- Simplifying your offering for communication online
confidently move forward with the tinybox brand blueprint.
Once we have completed your tinybox Brand Canvas brand strategy workshop, we will summarise everything we have produced in a comprehensive report called the tinybox Brand Blueprint. You will be able to use this document as the North Star for all brand activities, internal and external.
The 5-7k word report also acts as a powerful AI brain when loaded into custom AI agents from platforms like ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Claude. When ideating around new business strategies, talk to AI that knows your business intimately right from the get go.*
The tinybox Brand Canvas is included in all brand packages; however, it can be purchased independently if your business just needs foundational strategy.
*Always consider privacy when loading sensitive company information into AI platforms. Both ChatGPT and Gemini can use your data for model training on consumer plans unless you change your settings. To protect your information, turn off model training in your data settings, or use business and enterprise plans where your data is excluded from training by default. For maximum protection, consider using a self-hosted LLM.
frequently asked questions.
how long does a brand workshop take?
The tinybox brand canvas workshop typically takes around five hours, though this can vary depending on the depth of conversation.
Some businesses naturally have more to explore, and we never rush the process. The goal is clarity, not speed.
how many people can attend a brand workshop session?
Up to 15 people can attend a single brand strategy workshop session. We encourage businesses to include key decision-makers and anyone who plays a role in how the brand is communicated. The more perspectives in the room, the richer the output.
can I buy the brand canvas without a full brand package?
Yes. The brand canvas is ideal for those who simply want clarity on their positioning, messaging and communication.
It works as a standalone strategic exercise, and many clients go on to work with us on messaging concepts so they can put that foundation to work straight away.
where are in-person brand workshops held?
In-person sessions are typically held at your offices, which helps us get a real feel for the business. If needed, a central Bristol location can also be arranged.
what is the difference between a brand blueprint and a brand guide?
The Brand Blueprint is a strategic document. It covers (but isn’t limited to) your company background, what makes you different and why it matters, your mission, vision, values, value proposition, audience and competitor analysis, and a brand touchpoint audit.
It defines what the brand says and why. A brand guide covers both how a brand communicates and how it looks, including tone of voice, messaging principles, logo usage, colour palettes, typography, and imagery. One shapes the strategy, the other ensures it is applied consistently.
what happens after the brand workshop is complete?
Most clients move into messaging work, where we create a unique messaging strategy with branded headlines and a company tagline.
From there, the natural next step is a visual branding exercise to bring the strategy to life. Once the brand is defined and designed, it needs communicating, and that typically leads to a website that ties everything together for ongoing success.
